WIDE AREA DIGITAL REPEATER SYSTEM
Wide Area Digital Systems are comprised of multiple transmitter sites located on mountain top towers or strategically located building locations to provide a seamless system coverage area. These sites are interconnected by microwave or internet services to allow the subscribers to make calls from site to site offering the radio user an increased coverage area beyond what would be available with the use of a single site repeater system. The radios roam from site to site as the subscriber travels without any intervention from the radio user. The map below is an example of a system that covers approximately 7500 sq. miles owned by Digital 2-Way in Upstate New York. This system utilizes 10 individual sites linked with microwave and internet connections.
